Prom Dress vs Wedding Dress

Prom dresses and wedding dresses are types of clothing that a girl can wear on special occasions. One cannot see ladies wearing them on a daily basis. Usually, they are whole dresses, some are gowns. Getting a nice prom and wedding dress is something special for every woman.

Prom Dress

Prom dresses are worn during promenades most popularly known as prom. A prom is actually a formal dance which is held at school, either high-school or college, normally on or before the end of the school year. Prom is a major event in one’s school life thus getting one’s dream prom dress is a must. These dresses usually come as a gown or a cocktail dress.

Wedding Dress

On the other hand, a wedding dress is the gown which a bride would wear during her wedding ceremony. The gowns’ color and style may vary from culture to culture, however white is the most commonly used wedding gown color. There are many beliefs surrounding the choice of wedding dresses. Many women choose to wear white ones to signify the bride’s purity and virginity.

Difference between Prom Dress and Wedding Dress

Prom and wedding dresses are much more than plain dresses, they signify something. Prom dresses are worn during proms which are done during the last years in high-school. It signifies ones transition from a girl to a lady. Wedding dresses are worn during the wedding, showing the one’s transition from a lady into a woman. The choice of what prom dress to wear does not necessarily have a meaning; while in some cultures the choice of what wedding dress to wear holds a meaning. In Asian countries like India and China, red is the color of choice for good luck.

Wearing either a prom dress or a wedding dress is a chance that not everyone has. One should give importance as to choosing what to wear in proms or weddings because it is not just any event; it is supposedly special.

• Prom dresses are usually worn during school proms; while wedding dresses are worn during one’s wedding ceremony.

• Prom dresses are worn to signify one’s transition from a girl to a lady, while wedding dresses signify the transition from a lady to a woman.
