The company is concentrating on 4G seeing the shift in the preferences of the population that is in favor of higher speeds than they are getting in 3G. HTC’s Inspire 4G for AT&T is creating waves because of its excellent features. On the other hand, another major player Samsung has decided to make available smartphone to those who cannot afford high end mobile. Samsung Exhibit 4G is an attempt of the Korean giant to take advantage of T-Mobile’s fast network and basic smartphone features to make available a gadget at unbelievably low rates of $79.99 on a two year contract with a minimum $10 per month data plan. Yes, you can own a smartphone and have the Android experience for as little as $80. Sounds impossible? Try Samsung’s latest smartphone Exhibit 4G and you will agree with me. The phone has all the standard features of a smartphone (though basic) to attract all those who have always wanted to be owners of a smartphone.
The phone is thin and light having measurements of 119×58.4×12.7 mm and 125g. It has a candy bar form factor and a nice display of 3.7 inch which is AMOLED capacitive touch screen. It produces images at a resolution of 480×800 which is not disappointing at all. It has a multi touch input method with swype, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, accelerometer and a 3.5mm audio jack at the top.
The phone runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, has a decent single core 1 GHz Hummingbird process or and provides 512 MB of RAM. The phone is a dual camera device with a 3 MP camera at the back that shoots pictures that are sharp in 2048x1536pixels. The camera has auto focus, LED flash, allows geo tagging, and can record videos also. The phone boasts of a VGA camera also to make video calls.
The phone has 1 GB of internal storage though company provides additional 8 GB of storage through micro SD cards. Internal memory can be further increased up to 32 GB using SD cards. Inspire 4G has got a huge display (4.3 inch) that is super LCD and produces a resolution of 480×800 pixels that is enough to lure customers. But there is much more that meets the eye as one realizes when he starts using the smartphone. But despite its amazing hardware and software, the phone is available on blazing fast AT&T HSPA+ network on a two tear contract for just $99.99.
The phone measures 122.9×68.1×11.7 mm and weighs 163.9g making it a quite slim 4G smartphone. It is equipped with all standard smartphone features like the 3.5mm audio jack at the top, accelerometer, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor. It has multi touch input method and rides on legendary HTC Sense UI (HTC Sense 2.0) that provides a pleasing experience.
Inspire runs on Android 2.2 Froyo, has a solid 768 MB of RAM, and is equipped with a powerful 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU with Adreno 205 GPU. Unfortunately it has a single camera only that is surprising in this age of dual camera devices. But the rear camera is really nice being 8 MP, auto focus, dual LED flash, has face detection and geo tagging, and can record HD videos in 720p. The phone is Wi-Fi802.11b/g/n, GPS with A-GPS, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP + EDR, DLNA and mobile hotspot. It even has stereo FM with RDS. The phone has standard Li-ion battery (1230mAh) that provides a talk time of 6 hours in 3G.
