Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy S2 are two benchmark phones from Samsung. Galaxy S was released to challenge iPhone 4. This time around Samsung took the lead and released Galaxy S2 and set a new benchmark for smartphones, now Apple has to respond to this challenge in their fifth generation iPhone, the iPhone 5. Galaxy S is slim and light with 4 inch super AMOLED screen, 1GHz processor and runs Android 2.1 (Eclair) which can be upgraded to Android 2.2 (Froyo). It has a 5 MP camera with 720p video recording capability but there is no camera in the front, so in turn the video calling is not possible. Galaxy S as an entertainer supports a variety of media formats including DivX, XviD and AVI(DivX). The Android browser support Flash Lite 3.1; support for Adobe flash player 10.1 is available with the upgrade to Android 2.2. Users can also enjoy browsing with multi- touch zoom.
