Samsung Galaxy S2 (Galaxy S II) vs LG Optimus 2X – Full Specifications Compared
Galaxy S2 (Galaxy S II) and LG Optimus 2X are two Android highend phones that are powered by dual core processors and in the top of the list on performance and speed. Galaxy S II has beaten iPhone 4 in the thinness and created a new benchmark. Both have 1 GHz dual core processor, 8 MP camera, 1080p video camcorder, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 n, DLNA, HDMI out and support HSPA+ network. However there are differences too. Samsung Galaxy S 2 has 4.3″ WVGA Super AMOLED plus touch screen, 16GB internal memory and run Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) with a new personalized UX. Samsung also packing it with some Cisco based enterprise solutions to attract business users. While LG Optimus 2X has 4″ WVGA (800×480) TFT LCD touch screen, 8GB internal memory, dual display support (HDMI mirroring) and run Android 2.2. Both may upgraded the OS to Android 2.4 when it’s ready.
Galaxy S II (or Galaxy S2)
Galaxy S II is the thinnest phone to date, measuring only 8.49 mm. It’s faster and gives better viewing experience than its predecessor Galaxy S. Galaxy S II is packed with 4.3″ WVGA Super AMOLED plus touch screen, Exynos chipset with 1 GHz dual core Cortex A9 CPU and ARM Mali-400 MP GPU, 8 megapixels camera with LED flash, touch focus and 1080p@30fps HD video recording, 2 megapixels front facing camera for video calling, 1GB RAM, 16 GB internal memory expandable with microSD card, Bluetooth 3.0 support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, HDMI out, DLNA certified, Adobe Flash Player 10.1, mobile hotspot capability and runs Android’s latest OS Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). Android 2.3 is a major release to Android platform and has added many features while improving on the existing features in Android 2.2 version.
The super AMOLED plus display is highly responsive and has a better viewing angle than its predecessor. Samsung also introduces a new personalizable UX on Galaxy S2 which has a magazine style layout that selects the contents used most and displays on the homescreen. The live contents can be personalized. And the web browsing also improved to optimize Android 2.3 fully and you get a seamless browsing experience with Adobe Flash Player.
The additonal applications include Kies 2.0, Kies Air, AllShare, Voice Recognition & Voice Translation, NFC (Near Field Communication) and the native Social, Music and Games hub from Samsung. Game hub offers 12 social network games and 13 premium games including Gameloft’s Let Golf 2 and Real Football 2011.
Samsung in addtion to providing entertainment has more to offer the businesses. The entreprise solutions include Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, On Device Encryption, Cisco’s AnyConnect VPN, MDM (Mobile Device Management) and Cisco WebEx.
LG Optimus 2X
LG Optimus 2X is the first Android phone with dual core processor. It has superb hardware and runs Android 2.2. Its amazing hardware includes 4″ WVGA (800×480) TFT LCD capacitive touch-screen, Nvidia Tegra 2 1GHz Dual core processor, 8 megapixel camera with LED flash and video recording at 1080p, 1.3 MP camera for video calling, 8 GB internal memory with support for expansion up to 32 GB and HDMI out (support up to 1080p).
The other features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, DLNA latest version 1.5, Video codec DivX and XviD, FM Radio and preloaded with Strek Kart game. With all these hardware inside, LG Optimus 2X is still slim too. Its dimension is 122.4 x 64.2 x 9.9 mm.
The Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset used in LG Optimus 2X is built with 1GHz cortex A9 dual core CPU, 8 GeForce GX GPU cores, NAND memory, native HDMI, dual display support and native USB. Dual display supports HDMI mirroring and in gaming act as motion controller, but it does not support for video playback. LG Optus 2X is compatible with GSM, EDGE and HSPA networks and available in three colors, black, brown and white.
