Both ST500 and ST550 have 12.2Megapixels lens with a 4.6X Zoom. Outstanding features of these cameras are image stabilization and gesture based control. You just tilt them in one direction and they will start a slide show for your friends, no need to touch a single button. This has been possible because of accelerometer and SmartGesture user interface which makes clicking photos a pleasurable one indeed. They are equipped with smart face recognition which means you can browse photos of your registered friends only. You can make up to 20 registrations. What is great that these cameras also support HD video recording for long periods which means you do not need to carry your camcorder along. And yes, you do not need to press the button; one big smile will automatically command the camera to take the snap.

Differences between ST500 and ST550 • With ST 550, you get HDMI connectivity while there is no such facility with ST 500. • While ST 500 has a smaller LCD screen at 3”, the LCD screen of ST 550 is larger at 3.5”. • ST 550 has more vibrant colors at 1152k, whereas you get 230k colors with ST 500. • ST 500 is lighter at 149gm, whereas ST 550 weighs 165.7gm. • ST 500 is slightly thinner in comparison to ST 550. • While ST 500 is available in silver, blue and red colors, ST 550 is available in black, gold, and orange and purple. • While ST 500 is cheaper at $299.99, ST 550 is expensive and stands at $349.99. |
