Key Difference – Slim Fit vs Regular Fit

Shirts, pants, and jackets come in different designs, styles, and sizes. Regular fit and slim fit are two styles that indicate how the clothes will look on you. Regular fit clothes will hang loosely around the body, without being too baggy. Slim fit clothes will drape your body snugly without being too tight. This is the key difference between slim fit and regular fit.

What is Slim Fit?

Slim fit clothes are cut closer to the body and drape around the body without being too tight. Slim fit cut has a narrower and tighter fit in the waist, chest and arms of a shirt or jacket and in the waist and thigh area of pants. This style looks good on people with slim, skinny or slender bodies and those with slender waists. People with these body types have trouble tucking in regular shirts since they tend to spill out. The sides of a slim fit shirt are narrowed in order to prevent this. Let’s look at the special features of slim fit shirts and pants separately first.

Shirts:

Slim fit shirts have tapered sides – crescent shaped lines on either side – which allow the shirt to hang closer to the wearer’s body. The sleeves of the shirt are also tighter.

Pants:

Slim fit pants typically have flat-ironed design – they are snug at the legs and tapers somewhat towards the bottom. Although the pants should be tight, the wearer should be able to move and sit comfortably.Key Difference - Slim Fit vs Regular Fit

What is Regular Fit?

Regular fit is the traditional cut of men’s clothes. Regular fit clothes fit loosely around the body without being baggy. The chest, waist, and arms are relaxed and looser in this fit. But this doesn’t mean that regular fit looks sloppy or unprofessional. This fit is tailored perfectly to suit different body sizes and shapes.

Regular fit is more suitable for people with a wide or muscular body. However, regular fit should not be confused with relaxed fit or classic fit, which adds more material to give an airy feel. Regular fit drapes around the body while leaving the right amount of room to be comfortable. They also have fuller sleeves and wide arm holes.Difference Between Slim Fit and Regular Fit
