What is Ferrum Phos (Ferrum Phosphoricum)?

Ferrum phos or ferrum phosphoricum is a medication that is prescribed as a homeopathic remedy in treating the initial stages of fever and inflammation that occur during cold or flu, muscle fatigue, and anemia. It is denoted by FP, and more importantly, it can increase the hemoglobin level in the blood. It also tends to break the tendency of low serum ferritin levels in the blood. This compound is made from iron and phosphorous. It is the Latin name for iron phosphate. The generation of this compound occurs through the combination of iron sulfate, phosphate, and sodium acetate.

However, there can be some side effects of ferrum phos, which include sinus disorders, congestion, cold and flu, infections with a hot and red appearance, chills, fevers, otitis or earache, diarrhea, vomiting, and constipation. This medication is given as 4 tablets every thirty minutes for six doses, followed by four tablets every 4-6 hours as needed. Ferrum phos is prescribed for adults and children over 12 years.
