Bagel

Bagel is a breakfast item made by yeasted dough of wheat into round shaped product having a hole right through. It is baked after boiling in water to make it crisp and chewy. You can identify a bagel easily by poppy or sesame seeds baked and placed on the outer crust of the ring. Bagels are eaten with milk as a breakfast and have become very popular in UK and US. Today bagels are eaten in their various forms all over the world with regional toppings.

Doughnut

Doughnut is surprisingly similar looking to bagel with a centrally placed hole and round shape. It is mostly fried and sweetened and sometimes contains filling inside. Jams, crèmes and even custards are used as fillings for doughnut. These days variations such as baked doughnuts have become more popular for health conscious people.

 

What is the difference between Bagel and Doughnut?

• Bagels are mostly salty with characteristic poppy seeds seen on the outer crust, while doughnuts are fried and mostly sweet.
