Brie and Camembert are types of cheese that both originated in France. Both are described as soft in texture and made from cow’s milk. Their roots came from the provinces of Brie and Normandy respectively and is a staple in the French food culture.

Brie

The Brie cheese basically got its name from the place where it was first created. In terms of texture, it is usually described as soft and is whitish in color. Camembert

Camembert on the other hand was first produced and started in Normandy, a province in France. This is also soft in texture and made from unpasteurized cow’s milk. This cheese has been invented by a farmer with the advise of a priest from the province of Brie. Back in the first World War, camembert was a staple to the French Army’s diet, thus making it stick to the French culture.

Difference between Brie and Camembert

In terms of production, Brie is made into big wheels so when one sees it in the market they are already in slices. On the other hand, camembert cheese are made into small rounds, thus they are sold as a whole and individually.

There was been a lot of variations in cheese. Some are hard , and some like brie and camembert are soft. In terms of ingredients, both are made from cow’s milk. However what difference these two can offer is that they are a part of their country’s culture.
