Cyclone vs Hurricane
Cyclone and hurricane are violent tropical storms in which winds move so fast in circular direction. They are formed over warm tropical waters, and usually carry with them heavy down pour of rain. They may be of somewhat the characteristic; these two super storms may differ depending on where they make landfall or which geographical region they savage.
Cyclone
When there is a very violent storm in which the winds move very fast, rotating, usually formed over the equator or over tropical waters, and hits in Indian Ocean and Southwestern Pacific Ocean, people in that area refer to it as a cyclone. Cyclones have different types which greatly depend on the area where they hit. They are generally referred to as tropical cyclones. Typhoon is a cyclone that hits Northwestern Pacific Ocean near Asia. Hurricane normally hits areas in Atlantic Ocean and Eastern Pacific Ocean near the Americas.
Hurricane
As mentioned above, hurricanes are very powerful cylindrical storms that could bring about great damage in their area. As it is a type of tropical cyclone, it is formed over warm waters that gained wind speeds faster than a regular cyclone. Hurricanes are common in areas near the Americas as it is the region in which hurricanes show its wrath. One must remember though that technically, all hurricanes are cyclones, however, not all cyclones are hurricanes. A hurricane has a wind speed of over 74 mph which is much faster than a cyclone.
Difference between Cyclone and Hurricane
The relationship between a cyclone and a hurricane bears more weight than how the two differs. There is actually not much of a difference between them except for the area each of them will show no mercy. Hurricane usually ravages areas in the Atlantic Ocean and Eastern Pacific Ocean near the Americas while a cyclone will bring suffering in the areas near Indian Ocean and Southwestern Pacific Ocean. Although a hurricane is a type of a tropical cyclone, it has stronger winds than a cyclone with its winds rotating counter-clockwise.
When we come to think of it, storms generally have the same process of forming. It’s only a manner of identifying wind speeds, wind rotations and it’s the locations they are going to hit. This insight is very useful when we try to listen and understand news reports on current weather updates on cyclones and hurricanes.
