Facebook vs Google

Facebook and Google are the two most popular and most visited websites in the entire cyber world. These two websites have earned at least 40 percent of the internet users. The most common difference between the two is that Google is a search engine while Facebook is a social networking website.

Google

Google was started by Larry Page and Sergey Brin in 1997. It is the most used web search engine today, a program that searches keywords on the internet. Google Inc. is a public corporation whose primary objective is to organize data and make them useful and be accessible by every user in the web. Google has millions of users and it provides billions of search results every day.

Facebook

Facebook was launched by then Harvard dropout Marck Zuckerberg and was launched in 2004. Facebook is a social networking website whose primary service is to get friends, families, business associates in touch with each other wherever they are. This site began in Harvard as a networking website for college students and later expanded to the world for everyone to participate. To date, Facebook has over 500 million active users.

Difference between Facebook and Google

Perhaps the most common link between Google and Facebook is the search feature. Google provides fast, accurate, and user-friendly features to search keywords in the content of articles and ads. On the other hand, Facebook searches people in the network and serves as a channel where people can meet and keep in touch with each other. Google search features are boundless, meaning it can look for almost anything in the internet while Facebook limits the user to search for people who are into Facebook only. Also, Google is primarily onto searching of keywords while Facebook is primarily a social networking site (SNS).

It is undeniable that although Google and Facebook were developed differently for different purposes, however, their intended uses have earned them their well deserved popularity.
