HTC HD7S is Windows 7 smart phone released by HTC. The device was officially announced in March 2011, and was available in the market from June 2011. Reportedly this is the rebranded version of HTC HD7.

HTC HD7S stands 4.8” tall and remain an average size phone. The device is 0.43” thick and weighs 162g.The device is made of glass and a mixture of glossy plastic. In comparison to other devices, HTC HD7S may appear thicker and bulkier. HTC HD7S is complete with a 4.3” Super LCD capacitive touch screen with 480 x 800 pixels resolution. The screen PPI is 216. With the above specifications one can expect a fairly good display of text, images and video with no frills. The device also has sensors such as GPS, Accelerometer and compass.

HTC HD7S has a 1 GHz Snapdragon single core processor coupled with an Adreno 200 GPU (Graphics processing Unit), which will give a performance boost to graphics on the device. This is important since it’s a Windows 7 phone. While the processing power will provide a good smart phone experience in terms of performance, the GPU will enhance the graphics performance. The device includes 576 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM, and 16 GB internal storage. Storage cannot be extended by using a micro-SD card since a card slot is not available. HTC HD7S is powered by Microsoft Windows Phone 7. With the home screen with live tiles the performance of the phone is seamless and without lagging. Social network integration is available on HTC HD7S with Facebook and Twitter applications. Productivity applications such as Pocket Office are available to view Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and PDF documents. Pocket Office allows editing word documents and Excel files. Taking notes via voice commands is made possible by voice memo and the virtual keypad onboard supports predictive text input.

While all above features make HTC HD7S appear powerful, battery life and calling is what lets down this powerful device. Talk time is only nearly 4.5 hours, which is less than the standard for a smart phone. The standby time is 276 hours, which can be called standard. However, the calling quality is reportedly low in HTC HD7S, which is the primary function of the phone.

Samsung Infuse 4G

Samsung Infuse 4G is an Android smart phone announced by Samsung in January 2011. The device was officially released by March, and available in markets. Looking similar to the famous Samsung Galaxy S II, the phone may be an affordable alternative to its high end siblings.

The Samsung Infuse 4G stands 5.19” tall with a nice chassis and available in Caviar Black. With 0.35” thickness and 139 g weight Samsung Infuse 4G can be called extremely slim and considerably light for its dimensions. The device is complete with a good screen size of 4.5”. The screen is a super AMOLED Plus capacitive touch screen with 800×480 resolution and 207 screen PPI. The combination of above configurations will render good quality text, image and video. The high quality display is made out of Gorilla glass for scratch proof and protection. Since the device has a more mature version of Android, users will have a more stable experience and a bigger collection of applications on the Android Market. The device comes with social network integration with Facebook and Twitter applications, and includes Google applications, an organizer, image/video editor, Calendar, Picasa integration and Flash support. Input can be given as voice commands and the virtual keyboard comes with predictive input. If any application is missing it can be downloaded from the Android market.
