LG Optimus 3D and Samsung Galaxy S2 (Galaxy S II) are two High end Android phones with large display and dual core processors. Both the smartphones were officially announced at the Mobile World Congress 2011 and opened up a new benchmarking for smartphones. While LG introduced the LG Optimus 3D as the first glasses free 3D phone, Samsung introduced Galaxy S2 as the world thinnest phone. Both the phones support HSPA+ that promises 21Mbps download. Other features of LG Optimus 3D include high performance OMAP 4430 chipset that has 1GHz dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor and PowerVR SGX for GPU with symmetric multiprocessing, 4.3 inches 3D auto-stereoscopic display, dual 5 MP camera that can record videos in 3D, 3D UI, supports most of the 3D media files and can playback full HD 1080p content. The Samsung Galaxy S2 designed from the experience of Galaxy S is the world’s thinnest (8.49mm) phone to date. It offers improved performance with a high speed Samsung Exynos 4210 chipset that’s built with 1 GHz Dual Core Cortex A9 CPU and ARM Mali-400 MP GPU. This new Exynos chipset from Samsung is designed specifically to meet the needs of high performance, low power mobile applications and offers superb multimedia performance. The processor power and network speed are supported by the latest OS Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and larger 4.3 inches super AMOLED plus display to give users an excellent multimedia and gaming experience.

LG Optimus 3D

The key feature in LG Optimus 3D is the capability to record, share and view 3D content without 3D glasses. The 4.3″ WVGA 3D auto-stereoscopic display in LG Optimus 3D supports glasses free 3D viewing up to 720p and 2D multimedia content up to 1080p. The display uses the IPS technology (used in iPhone 4 Retina display). LG Optimus 3D does not stop with 3D display, it’s other features are also very impressive. It’s packed with amazing hardware, the OMAP 4430 chipset with 1GHz dual core processor, PowerVR SGX 540 for GPU, dual channel architecture and dual 512 MB main memory offers an enormous power to the phone while consuming low battery power.  Performance wise OMAP 4430 is the best processor so far in a mobile phone. The other features include dual 5MP 3D Stereoscopic lens for 3D recording, HDMI 1.4, Wi-Fi Direct 802.11b/g/n, DLNA 1.5, DivX and XviD video codec, 8GB internal memory, FM Radio and integrated YouTube 3D to instantly upload your own 3D capture or download 3D content. LG also has introduced a new user experience with 3D UI that supports most of the 3D file formats and offers native camera application for 3D video capture. A 3D hot key is available for one touch switch to this 3D UI. Other than the 3D UI, the interface is same as the one on LG Optimus 2X.

LG has included few 3D games from Gameloft like N.O.V.A 3D to experience the 3D gaming with LG Optimus 3D.

Samsung Galaxy S2 (Galaxy S II)

Galaxy S II (or Galaxy S2) is the thinnest phone to date, measuring only 8.49 mm. It’s faster and gives better viewing experience than its predecessor Galaxy S. Galaxy S II is packed with 4.3″ WVGA Super AMOLED plus touch screen, Exynos chipset with 1 GHz dual core Cortex A9 CPU and ARM Mali-400 MP GPU, 8 megapixels camera with LED flash, touch focus and 1080p@30fps HD video recording, 2 megapixels front facing camera for video calling, 1GB RAM, 16 GB internal memory expandable with microSD card, Bluetooth 3.0 support, Wi-Fi Direct 802.11 b/g/n, HDMI out, DLNA certified, Adobe Flash Player 10.1, mobile hotspot capability and runs Android’s latest OS Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). Android 2.3 has added many features while improving on existing features in Android 2.2 version.

The super AMOLED plus display is highly responsive and has a better viewing angle than its predecessor. Samsung also introduces a new personalizable UX on Galaxy S2 which has a magazine style layout that selects the contents used most and displays on the homescreen. The live contents can be personalized. And the web browsing also improved to optimize Android 2.3 fully and you get a seamless browsing experience with Adobe Flash Player.

The additonal applications on Samsung Galaxy S2 include Kies 2.0, Kies Air, AllShare, Voice Recognition & Voice Translation, NFC (Near Field Communication) and the native Social, Music and Games hub from Samsung. Game hub offers 12 social network games and 13 premium games including Gameloft’s Let Golf 2 and Real Football 2011.
