HTC been the most anticipated mobile vendor in United States, has the competitive advantage of its fame and early release while LG Spectrum courageously fight back to win its place in the 4G arena. Let us look at the fighting strategies these two handsets have adopted in order to win over each other and grant the customer satisfaction as anticipated by everyone.

LG Spectrum

LG is a mature vendor in the mobile phone arena with a lot of experience in identifying the trends of the market and going along with them to maximize their penetration. The buzz words in the industry nowadays are 4G connectivity, true HD screen panels, high end cameras with 1080p HD capturing etc. Although it’s not a surprise, we are glad to say that LG has captured all of these under the hood of LG Spectrum.

This combination is boosted by 1GB RAM and controlled by Android OS v2.3 Gingerbread with the promise to provide an upgrade to v4.0 IceCreamSandwich. It has 4.5 inches of gigantic HD-IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, featuring true HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and a pixel density of 326ppi. In layman’s terms, what this means is that, you get crystal clear images in extreme conditions like direct sunlight, wonderful color reproduction, crisp and clear text down to the smallest details, utilizing less amounts of power. The availability of high speed internet connection would mean seamless browsing through your mails, light browsing and social networks. The ultimate power of the processor enables you to multi task in such a way that you can still browse, play games and enjoy media content while you’re on a voice call.

LG has included 8MP camera in Spectrum, which has autofocus and LED flash with geo tagging enabled. It can capture 1080p HD videos @ 30 frames per second with LED video light included, and the 1.3MP front camera certainly is good for video conferences. It also has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Spectrum can also act as a Wi-Fi hotspot, which would be an ideal way for the user to share his super-fast LTE connectivity with friends easily. LG spectrum is somewhat big, obviously because of the gigantic screen, but it is somewhat heftier as well scoring a weight of 141.5g and a thickness of 10.4mm. Rezound features a 4.3inches S-LCD Capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors. I have to confess; I am impressed with the resolution it offers. When I had my first PC, it only had a monitor with 800 x 600 pixels resolution. This beast features a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, which is still used as a standard resolution even in PCs. You can imagine how powerful the GPU is to accommodate that. It also has ultra-high pixel density of 342ppi, which exceeds that of Apple iPhone 4S and just might be the screen with the highest pixel density. What does this imply? Well, it means that Rezound would have an unbeatable display quality with crisp sharp images. They guarantee an immersive and epic music experience from Rezound, which would not be an overstatement considering the technical specifications.

Rezound promotes super-fast browsing speeds with LTE 700 4G network of Verizon. It also has Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n for continuous connectivity and the ability to act as a hotspot enables Rezound to be used for a variety of purposes. It comes with an 8MP camera with auto focus and dual-LED flash, touch-focus, image stabilization and face detection. Not only that, but the camera comes with a panorama mode and an Action Burst mode for instant photography. It can capture 1080p HD videos @ 30 frames per second, as well as, 720p HD videos @ 60fps. HTC Rezound comes with A-GPS, and that enables Geo-tagging feature of the camera, as well. The generic HTC sense UI has been updated to v3.5 and offers enhanced user experience by extended configurability of the on screen functions and increased sensitivity.

Rezound is not only about sound either. It has a TV-out via MHL A/V link and a digital compass, Gyro sensor, proximity sensor and an Accelerometer. Conclusion

As we’ve mentioned in the introduction, these two handsets we picked out from the smartphone marathon are splendid candidates for the competition. They are so much alike in hardware specifications that you get lost in the middle on what specs you were looking at. For instance, LG Spectrum and HTC Rezound have the same processor on top of same chipset, with the same GPU and RAM. The 1.5GHz Scorpion dual core processor on top of Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset is one powerful setup that promises sheer power unlike anything else. The RAM, Adreno 220 GPU and the Android OS v2.3 Gingerbread combination is ideal to improve the performance. That been said, the first noticeable difference might have been the touchscreen panel, in which, HD-IPS LCD capacitive panel of LG Spectrum excels to that of HTC Rezound. But HTC’s way of coming back is with their pixel density, which just might be the highest pixel density a handset has up to now. So in layman’s terms, you won’t notice a difference in that either.
