Lyric and Lyrics are two words that are used alike but it is not right to do so. There is subtle difference between the two words. The word ‘lyric’ refers to ‘poem’. On the other hand, the word ‘lyrics’ refers generally to words or lines in poetry. This is the subtle difference between the two words.

On the other hand, a didactic lyric is a collection of poems laden with morals and law.

On the other hand, the word ‘lyrics’ often refers to the dialogues written for a movie by a writer. The word also refers to songs written for a movie or a feature film. The writer of the dialogues or songs for a movie is called by the name lyricist. A lyricist is a very important person when it comes to the production of a movie.

Lyrics sometimes contribute to the success of a movie too. People often go and watch a movie just in appreciation of the lyrics created in the movie. On the other hand, a lyric is a production of a poet. Lyrics are the production of a lyricist. Lines form important part of lyrics. On the other hand, sentiment forms the important part of a lyric. For example, the sentiment of love forms an important part of love lyric. The sentiment of devotion forms an important part of the devotional lyric. These are the main differences between the two words that are often interchanged, namely, lyric and lyrics.
