MacBook Pro vs MacBook Air
The MacBook family is a series of Mac (Macintosh) notebook computers developed by Apple. This was the result of merging their earlier PowerBook series and ibook series. Professional-focused MacBook Pro was released in 2006 as the first product of this series. Little while later, MacBook, which focused the consumer group, was released as the second product. The third product of the series MacBook Air was released in 2008. Both MacBook Pro and MacBook Air use the unibody aluminum construction. Both provide LED backlighting and come with a standard glossy display.
MacBook Pro
MacBook Pro is a professional-based Macintosh notebook released in 2006 as the first product in the MacBook family. It is the high end of the MacBook family. MacBook Pro uses Intel Core i5 and i7 processors (introducing Thunderbolt technology for I/O) and replaced PowerBook line. MacBook Pro has 13.3’’, 15.4’’ and 17’’ models. Largest screens of 1440×900 or 1680×1050 (15.4’’) and 1920×1200 (17’’) are offered with MacBook pro. MacBook Pro has three USB 2.0 ports and FireWire 800. There are two MacBook Pro designs, both of which use aluminum. One is a carry-over from the PowerBook series and the other is a unibody tapered design. MacBook Pro comes with 2GB RAM. However, the user has the option of installing a 4GB RAM when purchasing.
MacBookAir
MacBook Air is the ultraportable (thin) notebook released in 2008 as the third product of the MacBook family. It was promoted as the world’s thinnest notebook, but there were couple of disputes regarding this issue. It is very light weight compared to other competitors. MacBook Air uses Intel Core 2Duo and replaced the 12’’ PowerBook G4 series. MacBook Air introduced the unibody aluminum construction, which is also used by other notebooks in the series. MacBook Air also introduced the black keyboard, which is now used by all others in the series. MacBook Air has 11.6’’ and 13.3’’ models. Typically, MacBook Air 13.3’’ screens provide 1280×800. But 2010 MacBook Air provides 1440×900. Mac OS X Snow Leopard (which is the default OS in MacBOOk Air) running on MacBook Air can be used for handwriting recognition of Chinese, because of its multi-touch trackpad.
