Difference Between Moisturizer and Cream

Moisturizer vs Cream

Women all over the world make use of different beauty products to keep looking young and attractive. Moisturizers and crèmes are two products that have become household names as they are used frequently by men and women to keep their skin soft and supple. Many remain confused between moisturizer and cream not knowing the purpose and use of the two beauty products. This article attempts to highlight these differences so as to make people use either of the two products appropriately.

Moisturizer

As the name implies, moisturizer is a product that is used to hydrate the skin. There are millions around the world who remain worried because of their dry and irritating skin. When moisturizer is regularly applied, it helps in restoring moisture in the skin as it is light in composition and gets absorbed in the skin of the user. Dry skin tends to lose water content and become scaly and sensitive. Regular use of moisturizer restores moistness to remove the problem of skin dehydration. There are different ingredients in moisturizers and doctor may prescribe a particular type of moisturizer depending upon the requirements of the skin of the patient. If a person knows his skin type, he can choose from a wide variety of moisturizers available in the market. Today, there are moisturizers to deal with different skin problems such as wrinkles, blemishes, acne etc. Mostly moisturizers are meant to be applied on the face though there are many that can be applied all over the body like a body lotion.

Cream

Creams are more common beauty products than moisturizers, and the market is full of different kinds of creams. Creams are thicker and need to be rubbed on the skin to get absorbed. Creams feel oily when applied as they have high oil content. This is the reason why they are applied at night and not during day time. However, cold creams become a must during winter time when the skin becomes dry and choppy. Creams block the pores of the skin so that the moisture of the skin is not lost to the atmosphere and it does not dry out. However, this clogging of pores may give rise to acne related problems and blackheads. Like moisturizers, creams contain different ingredients and one must choose according to her requirements. Today there are creams containing vitamins available in the market that are prescribed by doctors to replenish vitamins in the skin of a person. Mostly ladies make use of creams to remove wrinkles, blemishes, marks, acne etc.
