Nectarines and peaches may look and taste alike, but despite of it they have their own difference still. Both are enjoyed because of their soft and sweet flesh, they also come from the same family and come from deciduous trees.

Nectarine

Nectarine has been known to be a type of peach or could also be a product of cross pollination or bud variation that evolved over the course of years. Physically it has a smooth red surface that resembles more of that of an apple than a peach. They can be used the same way as peaches are used and are also considered to be a substitute of peach.

Peach

Peach, is only to apples in terms of popularity as a tree fruit due to their fine flavor and also due to its many usage. It has a long history in terms of its existence, tracing its antiquity as far as two thousand years ago and is being enjoyed by many countries all over the world. It is described to have a sweet flavor, soft flesh and a fuzzy outer surface.

Difference between Nectarine and Peach

The main difference is primarily on the outer surface of the fruit. The red smooth surface of Nectarine is basically the only thing that makes it a standout from the rest of the peach family. While fresh peaches provides a significant amount of antioxidant, Vitamin A and C in addition to its potassium and fiber content. Nectarine on the other hand provides twice the Vitamin A, slightly has a higher vitamin C and more potassium than peaches. In terms of nutritional content, nectarine provides more benefits as compared to peaches.

Smooth surface or not, the fact remains that peaches and nectarines are one of the most loved fruits in the market. They are enjoyed by generations before and will always be in the coming years.
