Ooty and Kodaikanal and Munnar are all the names of very popular hill resorts in South India. They show some differences between them in terms of accommodation, places to see and climate.

Ooty is the short name for Ootacamund and is situated in the Nilgiris district of the Indian state of Tamilnadu. Kodaikanal is situated in the Dindigul district of the state of Tamilnadu whereas Munnar is located on the Western Ghats in the Idukki district in Kerala.

Ooty is known for the popular growth of the blackened Nilgiri tea leaves in estates across the town. Kodaikanal is known for its waterfalls and hence is a very popular tourist destination. Summers are moderate and winters are very cold in Ooty and Kodaikanal. Temperatures range between 10 degrees Celsius and 0 degree Celsius in winter in the hill station of Munnar.

The Nilgiri Mountain Railway is one of the oldest mountain railways in India. The nearest railway stations are Palani and Kodai Road of Kodaikanal. The major and the nearest railway station of Munnar is the Ernakulam railway station.
