Padma Sri vs Padma Vibhushan
Padma Sri and Padma Vibhushan are two kinds of civilian awards given to distinguished persons from India in various fields such as music, arts, literature, science, medicine, cinema and the like. Both these civilian awards are given by the government of India. Both these civilian awards differ in terms of their appearance, purpose and the like.
Padma Sri is a civilian award that was instituted on January 2, 1954 by the government of India. On the other hand Padma Vibhushan too was instituted in the same year though on a different date.
Padma Sri is given every year to distinguished persons. Padma Vibhushan is also given every year to distinguished persons. Padma Sri appears beautiful in the sense that it is characterized by the presence of embossed design and various geometrical shapes. The lotus in the center is made of burnished bronze. The earlier appearance of the Padma Sri was different from what it is now.
Padma Vibhushan is characterized by the presence of white gold petals in the burnished bronze lotus. Like the Padma Sri the Padma Vibhushan is also characterized by various geometrical shapes and embossed design on both sides. It looks gorgeous too.
It is interesting to note that Padma Sri is the fourth civilian award from the top. The top civilian award given by the government of India to the most distinguished persons of the country is the Bharat Ratna. Hence the Padma Sri is the fourth highest civilian award.
On the other hand the Padma Vibhushan award is the second highest civilian award. It is the next highest award to the Bharat Ratna award. As a matter of fact both the awards are given to distinguished persons in various fields on the occasion of Republic day every year.
