Difference Between Perfume and Eau De Parfum

Perfume vs Eau De Parfum

Man has been making use of aromatic plants, flowers, herbs and many other compounds to hide the body odor. Oils and perfumes have been used to freshen up not just bodies but even living spaces to have a pleasant scent, and not smell. For this purpose, there are many different products available in the market such as Perfume, Eau De Parfum, Eau De Toilette, Body Spray, and so on. This article attempts to clarify the differences between Perfume and Eau De Parfum that seem to be confusing for people.

Perfume and Eau De Parfum are just two of the dozens of fragrances being sold in the market. People do not know why some are costly while others are cheap. They also do not know why some last very long while the scent from some vanishes in thin air in just a few minutes. The real difference between different fragrances lies in the percentage of concentrate or the juice contained by these fragrances. Higher the concentrate in a fragrance, longer will the scent last and consequently the costlier it will be on your pocket.

Perfume

Among all products being sold in the market in the name of fragrances, it is the perfume that has the highest quantity of the concentrate or the scented oils. Perfume is also the costliest of the fragrances. It contains 15% to 40% of the concentrates by volume. A perfume is thus costly as it contains a higher percentage of concentrate, but its fragrance also lasts longer than other products and hence one needs to apply it less frequently.

Eau De Parfum

This is a product that has become very popular in stores as it is much cheaper than perfume and has similar fragrance as a perfume. However, the real catch lies in the fact that it contains much less concentrate or juice than a perfume and thus lasts considerably less. The concentrate in Eau De Parfum is between 7 and 15%.
