Politics vs Diplomacy

Politics and Diplomacy are two words that are often confused when it comes to their meanings. Politics is related to affairs connected with political parties. On the other hand, diplomacy refers to the activities of the state with the foreign counterparts or foreign entities on behalf of the state. This is the main difference between politics and diplomacy.

Politics not only exists between political parties, but it is seen in other fields too such as music, sports, administration, work place, and the like. Diplomacy aims at strengthening the relationship between two states or two countries. On the other hand, politics can be both constructive and detrimental to the growth of the state.

Politics deals with the study of political science. On the other hand, diplomacy deals with international relationship; making friendship with the neighboring and the other countries or states. This is also one of the main differences between politics and diplomacy.

Diplomacy is the practice of conducting negotiations between representatives of various states. This is certainly done in a bid to strengthen the political and cultural relationships between the states or the countries. Diplomacy is otherwise called as international diplomacy.

A person that deals with diplomacy is called a diplomat. On the other hand, a person involved in politics is called a politician. It is important to know that a politician is an experienced person, and has a firm understanding of the politics of the nation. It is interesting to note that diplomacy is rule-based. On the other hand, politics is not rule-based.

As a matter of fact politics has a fair portion of diplomacy in it too. Politicians have to be good at the art of diplomacy too. These are the important differences between the two words, namely, politics and diplomacy.
