Samsung bada vs Android
Google Android and Samsung bada are two Open Mobile Platforms with bada being the newest entrant, released in 2010. Talking of operating systems, Samsung has launched its new smartphones based upon its brand new operating system called bada, meaning ocean, while making devices for Google’s much acclaimed operating system Android. Samsung Wave is the first bada phone. It would not be fair to compare bada straight away with Android which has already carved a niche for itself in the market, but judging by the response of the users, Bada seems to be giving strong competition to Android with its attractive features and innovative user interface (TouchWiz). Here is a comparison between Android and bada.
User Interface
Both Android and bada platforms allow for a great deal of customization. bada has a bold and stylish user interface known as Samsung TouchWiz. The user can customize widgets like calendar, social networking and weather to be there on the screen all the time. He can also drag and drop things anywhere on the 3 home screens. You can customize each of the home screens with a host of widgets to make your phone new and interesting just like you.
Android also has user friendly widget front ends, virtual keyboards and a great user interface. Android also offers same facilities like widgets, contacts and icons but in a very bland manner, whereas bada is flashier. bada seems to have taken all the good features from all the very best like Android, iOS, WP 7 and HTC Sense.
Multimedia
This is where bada scores over Android despite being a new entrant in the market. It is the stock Android music player that pulls down Android in the race as it is very difficult to use and there are problems with music being messed up. bada makes listening to music hundred times more pleasurable. Music on the Wave is easy, full of features and joy to use and listen. Even videos on bada look stunning to say the least, while on Android, videos take a long time to load and the quality is also not good. Multimedia capabilities can be enhanced through the market in case of Android but bada is not lagging behind and offers apps in its app store to enhance multimedia capabilities. However, Android is strong on Apps with its huge Android Market whereas Samsung is now only building up its Apps store.
Summary
When Android was launched not so long ago, it arrived with just one phone and not too many apps. bada, which says, smartphones for everyone has arrived on the scene with much more features and only time will tell how far it will go. It is still early days to declare bada a winner but it still has a lot of potential and has done no harm to the reputation of Samsung.
