Difference Between Sex and Making Love

Sex vs Making Love

Talking about sex and love making is a hush-hush topic with not many willing to come out in the open with their opinions. Of course sex is not a taboo subject anymore as it used to be in earlier times, there is still hesitation and honest feedbacks are still difficult to obtain. We all know about sex which is the act of lovemaking between a man and a woman. In some cultures, sex is described as an act meant for procreation while in others sex has been put on a high pedestal as an act that brings man closer to a woman. There are writings where making love is kept separate from sex by writers implying they find the two as different from one another. Let us find out the subtle differences.

As far as I am concerned, sex is a word that merely connotes the physical act of intercourse and has nothing to do with the feelings or emotions of the man and woman engaged in the act. When a man indulges in paid sex with a prostitute, is it not just for physical pleasure and devoid of any feelings? There is no committed relationship and the man and woman move their own ways once sex is over and the man pays the woman money for her services. Even one night stands and flings are meant to enjoy sexual relationships more than any real feelings attached. Of course, there is fondling and cuddling as you would expect in the case of a couple deeply in love too. But in all such short term affairs, love is the ultimate prize and love is hard to find or at least is secondary, virtually having no importance.

On the other hand, when two people deeply in relationship with one another enjoy the act of sex, they are in fact making love to each other. This means that they are enjoying each others company and what they are getting and giving to each other is a lot more than just sexual pleasure. Sex with a partner you love is not just about pleasure, it about taking your love to a higher level. The satisfaction you get after a sex session with a partner you love is not physical alone. There are feelings of gratification and a sense of love and being loved that makes making love more special than plain sex with a stranger.

In brief:
