Difference Between Tagline and Slogan

Tagline vs Slogan

How does it feel to know that your worries are taken over by the company whose product or services you make use of? Certainly you feel good about it, and the promise makes you go for the product or service even. This is a marketing strategy that makes use of strong emotional words to lure customers towards the products of a company. There are two words in connection with marketing and branding that confuse many people. These are tagline and slogan. This article attempts to highlight the differences between a tagline and a slogan to be better able to understand their meanings.

Tagline

Leave your worries to us. Just do it. These are two examples of taglines that remain with the company and are not restricted to a particular product made by a company. A tagline is a short sentence that says a lot about the philosophy of the company and tells from a distance about a product being made by the company. The basic purpose or motive behind devising a tagline for a company is to create awareness about the company. The tagline, as it is made for the company and not just a product, is more or less permanent and tries to create an image that remains with the company.

Slogan

Slogan is a marketing tool that is used in connection with the launch of a product or service by a company and its sole purpose is to attract more and more customers to increase the sales of the company. A slogan is made keeping in mind not only the product but also the target consumers. It is all the time changing and has to be current in sync with the product or service. Slogans are catchy and make the customer feel good about them so as to encourage the customer to buy them.
