TATA Sky

It is a joint venture between the TATA group and STAR in which TATA owns 80% and STAR has a 20% stake. It started its services in the country in 2006 and within 5 years has got millions of subscribers. In 2010 TATA launched India’s first service that allowed viewers to choose the channels they wanted to see thus making the service even more popular. SUN Direct

This is the latest and youngest DTH service provider in the country but has become very popular with its down to earth prices and attractive features. It boasts of latest technology and provides the option to start with the minimum and later increase the number of channels they want to see. During the recently concluded World Cup of cricket, SUN Direct broadcast all matches in HD without any advertisements that brought thousands of new customers to the company. SUN entered Indian market with a bang being only company that offered installation and subscription at just Rupees 499 when others were asking thousands for the same. Due to its pocket friendly services, SUN soon captured the middle class Indian homes and today has a subscriber base of 6 million customers.
