Toshiba Thrive

Thrive has no pretensions to be a small tablet. This is why Toshiba has chosen to break the 10 inch barrier. Thrive has a display of 10.1 inches that pits it in direct comparison with Galaxy Tab. Thrive runs on the latest Andriod OS Honeycomb especially developed for tablets and has a powerful dual core 1 GHz processor. It is a dual camera device and is priced below iPad 2 and Galaxy Tab to wrest their market.

Thrive has dimensions of 272 x 175 x 15 mm and it weighs 771g. These specs make it a bit large in comparison to Galaxy Tab, which is undoubtedly the thinnest tablet in the market today. It runs on Android 3.1 Honeycomb and is packed with a fast 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 AP20H dual core processor with a solid 1 GB RAM. Toshiba has decided to present Thrive in many models with varying onboard storage (8 GB, 16 GB, and 32 GB). Internal memory of the device is expandable using SD cards up to 32 GB.

The resolution produced by display is 1280X800 pixels (WXGA) and it utilizes LED backlit LCD technology with a highly capacitive multi-touch screen. It is a wide screen display and smart with Toshiba’s ‘Adaptive Display technology that can sense the environment and auto adjust the contrast and brightness. And it has utilized the ‘Resolution+’ technology that can upconvert the standard definition video to high definition and enhances colour and contrast.

Samsung has set the standards for the next generation tablets with its Galaxy Tab 10.1, or at least so it seems. It is the thinnest tablet on the planet at the moment, standing at an unbelievable 8.6mm and it weighs just 1.3 pounds which is a proof of the mastery of the company.

Galaxy measures 256.7 x 175.3 x 8.6 mm and weighs 565g, making it the most compact tablet (even lighter and thinner than iPad2). It has a display of 10.1 inches that produces a superb resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels (WXGA). It runs on Android 3.1 Honeycomb and has a fast 1 GHz dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor. It has two configurations for internal memory (16GB or 32GB; 64GB available for some countries) and the memory can be expanded using micro SD cards up to 32 GB.
