Weak and week are two English words that have been a source of constant confusion for many people as they make incorrect use of these words. This is because of the phonetic similarities between the two words. The two words are homophones implying it is hard to make out any difference between weak and week when one hears these words spoken by another person. Weak

Weak is a word that means something that is fragile and not strong. Anything lacking in power, stamina, or force is labeled as weak. Week

Week is a noun that refers to a time period or duration of 7 days. However, this period is counted from Monday to Sunday or Sunday to Saturday to constitute a week. However, it is not mandatory, and any seven day period is generally labeled as a week. Take a look at the following examples.

• Next week is going to be celebrated as a breast cancer awareness week

• It is going to be a weeklong vacation
