Wealthy vs Rich
Probably no one pays much attention to the difference between the two words rich and wealthy, as both signify the fact that the person being referred to as rich or wealthy has a lot of money and an abundance of materials in life. Most people think of rich and wealthy as synonyms and also use them as such. Aren’t there any differences between being rich and being wealthy? Let us find out.
Rich
What is it that makes others feel that a person is rich? When you know a person who wears expensive watches, has higher end mobile, drives sports cars, wears branded clothes and jewelry, and dines in 5 star hotels and restaurants, you obviously refer to him as being rich. A rich person need not tell others about the money he has. It is his spending habits that are enough to tell others about him of being rich. People who are rich often come into others eyes as they try to show off in front of others about their spending power. You know a person is rich if he lives in a mansion.
Wealthy
You may be the only offspring of your parents inheriting all the wealth of your parents, but you may lose all of it if you lack the knowledge and wisdom that made your dad a wealthy man. If you see the wealth created by you parents as a source of money only, you stay wealthy for a short period of tie till the money and property last, fulfilling your monetary requirements. History is replete with people who acquired wealth through their knowledge and wisdom and values this wisdom and knowledge more than the money they so earned. King Solomon was very wealthy, so much so that when God’s servants came and asked him what he would want from Gods, he asked for wisdom. He stayed wealthy with knowledge and wisdom. Remember, you do not become wealthy if you strike a jackpot. You only become rich. It is only when you have the knowledge to build upon this money to acquire wealth that you start on the road to being wealthy.
Two siblings getting equal amount of money from their father’s property suddenly get rich but, one stays rich temporarily, while the other builds upon wealth and finally becomes wealthy. On the other hand, the other sibling may even lose all of his part if he does not have knowledge and wisdom to create wealth.
