Difference Between Wolf and Husky

Wolves and huskies are similar kinds for an untrained eye or an average person due to the close resemblance of the looks of these animals. However, there are many differences between wolves and huskies in many aspects including the home ranges, behaviours, preferences, and many more. In addition, one of these is mostly wild while the other group is domesticated. However, it is interesting to notice that both these canids live on ice of the Northern hemisphere.

Wolf

Wolves are the largest extant wild members of the Family: Canidae. They are entirely wild animals and have been extremely difficult to domesticate. Wolves are highly intelligent animals with an exceptionally well-developed sense of smell, which is about 100 times more than that of a human. They are social predators and live in families. Pack is the referred term for an assemblage of wolves. Wolves are famous for their pack hunting, in which the pack follows the prey and surround so that the prey has no option but to fight alone for survival against a hungry and aggressive wolf pack. Wolves can usually run fast for a longer time, which is very useful for their predatory lifestyle. They have well adapted teeth for predation with sharp canines and molars. They are hard to train and aggressive animals. The muzzle is long in wolves, so that they can give a deep and hard bite on the prey. An interesting fact about wolves is that they rarely bark, but often howl in a spine-tingling frequency. Wolves shed their coat twice a year; they shed the winter coat in the spring and grow the short haired summer coat, and they shed that before the winter.

Husky

Husky is a type of dog that has been used to pull sleds. Referring husky as a type of dog means that these dogs are bred to maintain and enhance a particular function, which is the pulling of sleds on ice. Their exceptional ability to pull the sleds has brought them the standards of the best sled dogs in the entire world. The Alaskan malamute is considered the best sled dog, as any other breed or type of dogs could not beat its strength and size. Huskies have become more and more useful for humans to make money through organizing tourist sled dog adventure events on ice. Huskies are well adapted for the ice-cold temperatures of the Northern hemisphere with a double coat as a mean of insulation to keep the body heat. In addition, they are athletic animals with a great energy, which cause them to maintain the body temperature. They have differently coloured eyes; the phenomenon is known as the heterochromia, but the most common colours of their eyes are pale blue and brown. Huskies are amongst the oldest known dog types, and they have been used by ancient people to guard their villages and other territories. Other than pulling sleds, huskies have been using for some other purposes by the modern man including skijoring, dog hiking, carting, bike-joring, dog scootering, and as pets.
