The mobile phone market is always receptive to new models and changes in the prevailing models. This is because it’s a part of a highly evolving branch of science. Today, we will be talking about two Android handsets that have state of the art hardware inside them. One handset is from the leading manufacturer of smartphones in the world Samsung. The other is from ZTE which is not a dominant player, but they have had their share of glorious days in the past, as well. The ZTE PF112 HD will be compared against Samsung Galaxy S II to set up an initial benchmark since Samsung Galaxy S II is considered as the basis for modern smartphone designs.

ZTE PF112 HD

PF112 HD was announced at the MWC 2012 and thus the details are still vague. It seems to have a fancy look with curved edges and an intuitive user interface. Although ZTE normally ship Vanilla Android devices, this has their new UI code named as Mifavor. It has 4.5 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen featuring a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels at a pixel density of 326ppi which makes it eligible for the HD tag. It is slim scoring a thickness of 8.5mm and the dimensions are 130 x 66mm, which makes it a sleek device that can easily fit in your pocket. Unfortunately, we don’t have the details of the processor of this device since that wasn’t announced officially. Presumably, it would be a dual core processor clocked around 1.2 – 1.5GHz range, but we can’t really promise anything. It is said to have 1GB of RAM and runs on Android OS v4.0 ICS which is a good sign.

ZTE PF112 comes with 8GB of internal storage with the option to be expanded using a microSD card up to 32GB. It has HSDPA connectivity that attains speeds up to 21Mbps. The inbuilt Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n ensures continuous connectivity, and it can also act as a wi-fi hotspot and share internet connectivity. The DLNA gives you the ability to stream rich media content right from your smartphone to your Smart TV wirelessly. ZTE has included an 8MP camera with autofocus and LED flash to this device, and we are hoping it would be able to capture 1080p HD videos. A secondary camera is also available for the purpose of video conferencing. Apart from that, details on the ZTE PF112 HD are rather limited.

Samsung Galaxy S II

Samsung is the leading smartphone vendor in the world, and they have actually gained much of their popularity though Galaxy family. It’s not just because Samsung Galaxy is superior in quality and uses cutting edge technology, but it’s because Samsung is also concerned about the usability aspect of the smartphone and make sure that has the due attention. Galaxy S II comes in either Black or White and has three buttons at the bottom. It also has the same curved smooth edges Samsung gives to Galaxy family with an expensive looking plastic cover. It is really light weighing 116g and ultra-thin too having a thickness of 8.5mm.

Galaxy S II has two storage options, 16 / 32 GB with the ability to expand the storage using a microSD card up to 32 GB more. It comes with 4.3 inches Super AMOLED Plus Capacitive touchscreen featuring a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and a pixel density of 217ppi. While the panel is of superior quality, the pixel density could have been somewhat advanced, and it could have featured a better resolution. Nonetheless, this panel reproduces images in a great manner that would catch your eye. It has HSDPA connectivity, which is both fast and steady, along with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and it can also act as a wi-fi hotspot which is really attractive. With the DLNA functionality, you can stream rich media directly to your TV wirelessly.

Samsung Galaxy S II comes with 8MP camera with autofocus and LED flash and some advanced functionalities. It can record 1080p HD videos at 30 frames per second and has Geo-tagging with the support of A-GPS. For the purpose of video conferences, it also features a 2MP camera on the front bundled with Bluetooth v3.0. Besides the normal sensor, Galaxy S II comes with a gyro sensor and the generic android applications. It features Samsung TouchWiz UI v4.0 which gives a good user experience. It comes with 1650mAh battery and Samsung promises a talk time of 18 hours in 2G networks, which is simply amazing.

 

A Brief Comparison of ZTE PF112 HD vs Samsung Galaxy S II

• ZTE PF112 HD has 4.5 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen featuring a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels at a pixel density of 326ppi while Samsung Galaxy S II has 4.3 inches Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen featuring a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels at a pixel density of 217ppi.

• ZTE PF112 HD is slightly larger (130 x 66mm / 8.5mm) than Samsung Galaxy S II (125.3 x 66.1 mm / 8.5mm).

 

Conclusion

It’s really not fair to give out a conclusion without the crucial information about ZTE PF112 HD; thus, we’ll leave it till we get more information. For now, all we can say is that ZTE PF112 HD has a brighter display panel with a higher resolution than the Samsung Galaxy S II.
