Evo View 4G and iPad 2 are two tablets available for Sprint network. HTC Evo View 4G is a 7″ Android based tablet while Apple iPad 2 is a 9.7″ device powered by Apple’s new OS, iOS 4.3. They are two entirely different tablets for two different group of users. HTC unveiled its sensational tablet HTC Flyer at the Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona in Feb 2011. Evo View 4G is the US version of HTC Flyer and carry the same features as HTC Flyer except for the network compatibility. HTC Evo View 4G supports Sprint’s 4G WiMAX and 3G CDMA networks. Sprint’s iPad 2 is the CDMA model and it does not need any introduction. It’s much faster, lighter and thinner than the first generation iPad. Though Evo View 4G is a smaller tablet with a slower CPU compared to iPad 2, it has the advantage of the Sprint’s 4G speed. Evo View 4G is designed to carve a niche for themselves in the booming tablet market.
HTC EVO View 4G
This is another winner from the stable of HTC in the tablet market. This 7” tablet is not Android Honeycomb like many other Android based tablets. This runs on Android Gingerbread along with the legendary HTC sense user interface that makes it standout from other Android run tablets. It makes use of NTriig digitizer that allows for both touch and a special pen for input.
This tablet has dimensions of 7.7 x 4.8 x 0.52 inches and weighs 420 gm. The display is 7” highly capacitive touch screen at a resolution of 1024X600 pixels with a pinch to zoom facility that greatly aids while browsing and reading e-books. EVO View 4G boasts of 1GB of RAM with 32 GB of internal storage capacity. Arriving on the network of Sprint, the phone supports both 3G and 4G and it can be used as a mobile hotspot for as many as 6 Wi-Fi devices. The tablet has a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon processor and is a dual camera device with a 5MP rear camera that captures high definition videos along with a front facing 1.3 MP camera for video calling.
Apple iPad 2
This is the second generation iPad from Apple. Compared to iPad, Apple has made many improvements to iPad 2 in design and performance. iPad 2 gives a better performance with high speed processor and improved applications. The A5 processor used in iPad 2 is 1GHz Dual-core A9 Application processor based on ARM architecture, The new A5 processor’s clock speed is twice as faster than A4 and 9 times better on graphics while the power consumption remains same. iPad 2 is 33% thinner and 15% lighter than iPad while the display is same in both, both are 9.7″ LED back-lit LCD displays with 1024×768 pixel resolution and use the IPS techology. The battery life is same for both, you can use it up to 10 hrs continuously.
The additional features in iPad 2 are the dual cameras – rare camera with gyro and 720p video camcorder, front facing camera for video conferencing with FaceTime, a new software PhotoBooth, HDMI compatibility – you have to connect to HDTV via Apple digital AV adapter that comes separately.
iPad 2 has three configurations; two to support 3G-UMTS and 3G-CDMA networks and the third Wi-Fi only model. Sprint’s has the CDMA model. The CDMA model is also available with Verizon. iPad 2 has 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants and are available in black and white colors. The price varies depending the model and storage capacity, it ranges from $499 to $829. Apple also introduces a new bendable magnatic case for iPad 2, named as Smart Cover, which you can purchase separately.
