UFC vs Affliction
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Affliction are two most famous professional mixed martial arts organization. Mixed martial arts, which is known popularly as Ultimate Fighting, is a combat sport wherein competitors are using different kinds of martial arts techniques and skills.
UFC
UFC has hosted many worldwide events showcasing the top-ranked mixed martial artist in the world. Currently, it has seven different weight classes ranging from Bantamweight (126-135lbs) to Heavyweight (206-265lbs). There are more than 30 fouls in a UFC match which is listed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission that includes the most common fouls like head-butting and groin attacks. The match ends through submission, knock-out, technical knock-out, and judges’ decision.
Affliction
Affliction is founded around 2008 by an Affliction Clothing independent branch. Affliction promoted two pay-per-view events (Affliction: Banned and Affliction: Day of Reckoning) and a cancelled event (Affliction: Trilogy). The Trilogy fight supposedly between Josh Bernett and Fedor Emelianenko but got cancelled 11 days before the scheduled date due to non-issuance of license to Josh Bernett by the California State Athletic Commission after Bernett tested positive of using anabolic steroids.
Difference between UFC and Affliction
UFC is already treated by other MMA Organizations and MMA fans as a pillar of MMA Sports while Affliction joined the rooster of MMA Organizations at a later year and is still too young to compete with UFC. Though Affliction is still new to the MMA world, UFC sees them as a treat since during the Affliction: Banned event night, UFC also held UFC: Silva vs. Irvin. UFC is owned and managed by Zuffa, LLC (created by Lorenzo Fertitta and Frank Fertitta) whereas Affliction is managed in partnerships of Golden Boy Promotions, Business Magnate Donald Trump, and M-1 Global.
In the end, Afflictions struggle to join the MMA industry and competing against UFC fails. On 2009, Affliction no longer promotes MMA fight events but comes back to life as a UFC sponsor. Today, majority of the MMA fans around the world thinks that UFC and MMA are the same.
