Apple iPhone 4, iPhone 5 and Android Smartphones are the competitors in the smartphone market. iPhone 4 is a product of Apple released in June 2010, the previous versions are iPhone 3G (July 2008) and iPhone 3GS (June 2009). Android 2.1 smartphones started coming into market since March 2010. Android 2.2 handsets were released to market from June 2010. And from that day, Android smartphones started mushrooming and by Q4 2010, Android smartphones took the lead in the smartphone market.

Apple iPhone 4 is powered with Apple iOS 4.2 whereas the latest Android smartphones are powered with either Android 2.2 (Froyo) or Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). Android 2.1 was released in January 2010, Android 2.2 was released in May 2010 and Android 2.3 was released in December 2011. Nearly all the smartphones released in Q4 2010 are Android 2.2, and the phones released in Q1 2011 are a mix of Android 2.2 and Android 2.3.
