Baptist vs Catholic

Baptist and Catholic are two religious groups that differ from each other in terms of practice and beliefs. There is a normal tendency among people to look upon various religious sects as one and the same. Strictly speaking, there is some difference between the two religious sects, namely, Baptist and Catholic.

It is said that both groups have their own churches. The way the churches are built or designed is different in both. As a matter of fact, the Roman Catholic Church is said to be bigger. On the other hand, the Baptist Church is said to be smaller when compared to the Roman Catholic Church. This is one of the main differences between Baptist and Catholic.

Both the religious groups differ in terms of their beliefs too. The Baptist Church primarily believes in salvation through faith in God alone. In other words, the Church says that man can attain liberation from this world only through his faith in God. On the other hand, the Catholics too believe in the influence of faith on God on liberation or salvation. In addition to this, they rely on Holy sacraments as means to salvation. This is a significant difference between the two groups.

Baptism is another area in which the two differ from each other. It is said that Catholics firmly believe in infant baptism. In other words, infants can be baptized too according to the Catholic Churches. On the other hand, the Baptist Church does not believe in the baptism of infants. They say that adults alone can be baptized. In case, a person who is not an adult approaches the Church for baptism the Baptist Church would agree, provided, the person is matured enough to understand some of the beliefs of the group.

The scenario of life and death is another area in which the Baptists and Catholics differ from each other. The Roman Catholics staunchly believe that the soul after the death of a person can be taken or directed towards purgatory. It is not necessary that the soul should simply be torn between heaven and earth after death.

On the other hand, the Baptists firmly believe that the soul after the death of a person simply is torn between heaven and earth. The religious group of Baptists does not believe in the purgatory. They say that the soul need not be led towards purgatory. It is said that the Roman Catholics prays through the intercession of Mary and the Saints.

In other words, it can be said that the Roman Catholics believe in the power of the Saints too; thus, they pray to them without any sort of reservation whatsoever. On the other hand, the Baptists do not believe in offering their prayers to the Saints or Mary for that matter. They firmly believe in offering prayers to Jesus Christ alone. In short, it can be said that these two groups differ mainly in their beliefs. These are the key differences between Baptist and Catholic.
