Director vs Producer vs Screenwriter

Director and producer and screenwriter are three of the major elements on making films. Films, in brief, are stories which are brought into life with moving images in order to give more entertainment to the viewers. Generally, they are the ones behind the film camera.

The directors can be considered as the supreme commanders in making a film. They have total in control of the film actress and actors and deciding the general output or outlook of the film. Not only directors work on the actual production of the film, but they also work on the post-production stage guaranteeing the correct emotions and are properly captured.

Producers are film overseers making sure that the film they are making will be of good quality and can attract the attention of the viewing public. Also, they are the ones that provide any financial needs of the film.

Screenwriters are also called as scriptwriters and the ones who have written the story that the film will be using. Most of the screenwriters write a story even they aren’t paid for doing it since their goal is to sell it after they finish writing the story.

Directors, producers, and screenwriters are all very important that without one from them, a film could never be made. While the directors have the total control over the whole process of making the film and the producers ensuring that the film would be of interest to the public, the screenwriters on the other hand is where the film born first in their imaginations. The director has the control over the entire film and film crews, producers are in control of the financial needs of film-making, and the screenwriters are the ones in control of how the story of the film goes.

If a film is very well-studied and consists of veteran directors, producers, and screenwriters, it would surely be a hit or a top grossing film even the main actors and actresses are newbies and haven’t made any mark on the film industry yet.

In brief:

• Directors are in control of the film production including the actors, actresses, and technical crews. Producers are in charge of the financial needs of the film. Screenwriters are in control on how the film’s story goes.

• Directors work to impress the film critics and major film production companies. Producers work to impress the general viewing public in order to profit from their investments. Screenwriters work to impress the film producers and directors so that their written stories might be bought and used on a film.
