Gel Nails vs Acrylic Nails

Grooming is an essential part of a woman’s life as beauty defines a woman perfectly. What else is important is that grooming provides a summary of a person in a nutshell. A well groomed person is more presentable and therefore their self-caretaking shows that they are responsible and are serious about making an impression to the world. This is where nail grooming also steps in, a person having cracked nails is taken as someone who does not follow a healthy lifestyle and a person with a nail biting habit is considered to be a nervous person. Nail grooming therefore has become essential and now does not only stop at getting manicures. Acrylic nails and gel nails have become a necessity for most and a habit for a few purely for the aesthetics it provides.

Gel nails

Gel nails have recently gained popularity because of its shiny texture. They are light weight after being applied and therefore does not seem burdensome to someone who has used gel nails. Since it is a gel base applied to the natural nails, not only does it give the real nails a good look, it also provides the real nails with the protection that helps the real nails to later on enhance and strengthen on their own. Gel nails are applied using a gel specific to the needs of nails and is then sculpted on the nails using ultra violet rays. These can later on be pigmented as well much like the real nails using nail pant.

Acrylic nails

Acrylic nails are made using acrylic plastics and are fixed on the real nails. They are like a plastic covering on the real nails and therefore serve the purpose of hiding any defects with the natural nails. The acrylic nails are shaped before being applied to the nail. This is also the stage where the nails are pigmented according to the needs and likings of a person. Because it is an additional attachment on top of the real nails, they tend to be a little heavy.

Differences between Gel nails and Acrylic nails

One of the major differences between gel nails and acrylic nails is their weight. Gel nails tend to provide a thin, clear and shiny layer over the real nails which are very light compared to the additional acrylic nail that is fixed over the real nail. Though both cover the nails, gel nails tend to provide the real nails with a better after life than acrylic nails since, acrylic nails do not let the real nails breathe. Gel nails are also preferred because of their odorless nature compared to the acrylic nails, however, acrylic nails are easier to maintain and can be applied by anybody on their own. Gel nails require a professional.

Conclusion

As we learn nail grooming did not only end at painting the toes and having French tips. Technology has taken self grooming far and has created a need amongst people for having healthy nails. Because the audience as themselves are self conscious of their features accredited much to media and the celebrity frenzy, even acrylic nails and gel nails have become a necessity.
