Hinduism vs Sikhism
Hinduism and Sikhism are two religions that show some differences between them when it comes to their concepts, beliefs and the like. Hinduism has no founder and it is called as Sanatana Dharma. It accepts the universality of all religions. It believes in the equality of all living beings as well.
Sikhism on the other hand, is a monotheistic religion found in the 15th century in Punjab India. The religious tenets of Sikhism were formed based on the teachings of Guru Nanak and his ten followers. In fact, it can be said that Sikhism is the 5th largest followed religion in the world.
Hinduism believes in the classification according to the dharmas of people. The four classifications or varnas are Brahmanas, Kshatriyas, Vaisyas and Shudras. Each of theses classes are given duties, and these duties are called as Dharmas. A Brahmin is supposed to educate himself in the Vedas, and he is supposed to teach them to others as well. A Kshatriya is given the duty to safeguard the kingdom. He is looked upon as the king. A vaisya is supposed to engage himself in business including agriculture, or any other industry. A shudra is supposed to serve the people from the other three classes, and he is supposed to learn the fine arts.
Sikhism believes in one God and its principal beliefs are faith and justice in One God. The name of the God should be meditated to attain salvation. His message should also be meditated to attain liberation in life. Guru Granth Sahib is the holy scripture of the Sikhs. On the other hand, the Vedas are the holy scriptures of the Hindus. Hinduism believes in the four stages of life, namely, Brahmacharya, Grihastya, Vanaprastha and Sanyasa. These are the differences between the two important religions in the world, namely, Hinduism and Sikhism.
