It contains two major active agents that are used to fight against heartburns; they are calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide. Thus, it has the highest level of calcium carbonate among other antacids. Moreover, the inactive ingredients of this medicine are dextrose, flavouring, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol, pregelatinized starch, sucralose and sucrose.

Rolaids is available in regular, extra, ultra and advanced strength. Furthermore, it is available in soft chew form. Looking at the side effects of this medicine, there are both minor and major side effects. Minor side effects include constipation and muscle cramps while major side effects include loss of appetite, vomiting, dizziness, and headache.

What is Tums?

Tums is a commercial brand of antacid that we can use to relieve heartburn, and indigestion (“sour stomach”). The manufacturer of this product is GlaxoSmithKline. It mainly contains sugar as sucrose and calcium carbonate. This product is available also in a sugar-free version. Moreover, it has only one active ingredient that can fight against heartburns; calcium carbonate, and it is not formulated to soothe bloating and gas.

Unlike Rolaids, this product is not available in regular, extra, ultra and advanced strength. But, it is also available in soft chew form. This product comes mainly in chewable tablets in several different flavors such as peppermint flavor and fruit flavors; berries, orange and cherries.
