Captivate Glide is not the best phone from the Samsung family, whereas Apple iPhone 4S is the best phone yet from Apple Inc. But then, Apple is unique been the only phone that features iOS5. Both of this extension are available at AT&T, or rather Apple iPhone 4S are available, and Captivate Glide would be available soon, hopefully this month as per Samsung.

Samsung Captivate Glide

Samsung Glide comes with the common Samsung style with smooth edges and expensive looks. It also has a QWERTY keyboard that can be slid from the side. This is particularly important for business personnel as they have an increasing familiarity with QWERTY layout. Its exact dimensions are not yet known, but we can expect a slightly thicker phone that is of the same size as Samsung Galaxy S. It features four touch buttons at the bottom slightly deviating from the Samsung style. Samsung Glide is said to have a 4.0 inches Super AMOLED Capacitive touchscreen made out of scratch resistant Gorilla glass, with a pixel density of 233ppi and a resolution of 480×800. Samsung has also included a Gyro sensor in Glide along with the Accelerometer sensor and Proximity sensor for auto turn-off to match the specifications of iPhone 4S. It comes with a 1GHz NvidiaTegra 2 AP2OH dual core processor boosted with a 1GB RAM and a 1GB ROM. Even though, this is not the best processor in Samsung family, it is high end when it comes to Smartphones market. Android v2.3.5 Gingerbread is said to be the OS in Glide, but it is only fair to expect a quick update to v4.0 IceCreamSandwich.

Samsung Glide is said to have 8GB internal storage while providing the option to expand using a microSD card up to 32GB. It will get full use of 4G infrastructure from AT&T with super-fast browsing speeds of 21Mbps HSDPA and 5.76Mbps HSUPA. The ability to appear as a Wi-Fi device and a hotspot is courtesy of the high end WLAN Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. That itself would speak for this wonderful, unique phone which is the successor for iPhone 4. It has the same look and feel of iPhone 4 and comes in both black and white. The stainless steel built gives it an elegant and expensive style which appeals to the users. It also is almost the same size as iPhone 4 but slightly heavier weighing 140g. It features the generic Retina display which Apple is extremely proud of. It comes with a 3.5 inches LED-backlit IPS TFT Capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors, and scores the highest resolution as per Apple, which is 640 x 960 pixels. The pixel density of 326ppi is extremely high that Apple claims that the human eye is unable to distinguish individual pixels. This obviously results in crisp text and stunning images. Apple also claims it to be more remarkable than a printed page.

iPhone 4S comes with 1GHz dual core ARM Cortex-A9 processor with PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU in Apple A5 chipset and 512MB RAM. Apple claims this delivers two times more power and seven times better graphics. It is also highly energy efficient which enables Apple to boast an outstanding battery life. iPhone 4S comes in 3 storage options; 16/32/64GB without the option of expanding the storage with a microSD card. It utilizes the HSPA+ infrastructure provided by AT&T, to stay in touch at all times with HSDPA at 14.4Mbps and HSUPA at 5.8Mbps. In terms of camera, iPhone has an improved camera of 8MP that can record 1080p HD videos @ 30 frames per second. It has a LED flash and touch to focus function along with Geo-tagging with A-GPS, video stabilization, backside illumination sensor, auto white balance, advanced color accuracy, reduced motion blur and face detection. Apple has come with a larger aperture of f/2.4, enabling the lens to absorb more light and capture what you see as they are even in low light conditions. The front VGA camera enables the iPhone 4S to make use of its application FaceTime, which is a video calling application.

While iPhone 4S is graced with generic iOS applications, it comes with Siri, the most advanced digital personal assistant up to date. Now the iPhone 4S user can use voice to operate the phone, and Siri understands natural language. It also understands what user meant; that is, Siri is a context aware application. Apple is best known for its unbeatable battery life; thus, it would be normal to expect it to have a fabulous battery life. With the Li-Pro 1432mAh battery it has, iPhone 4S promises a talk time of 14hours in 2G and 8hours in 3G. Recently, the users have been making complaints about the battery life. Apple has announced that it is working on a fix for that, while their update for iOS5, iOS 5.0.1, has partially solved the problem. We can stay tuned for updates and expect the Technological Innovator to come up with a fix for the problem at hand soon.
