Difference Between Winery and Vineyard

Winery vs Vineyard

Winery and vineyard are two of the term used by wine producers to label their products. As such, it may be difficult to understand why this is so, it maybe hard to discern which wine is better, the one coming from a winery or from that of a vineyard.

Winery

A winery is technically a term called to a place where harvested grapes are segregated, cleaned, processed, fermented, aged in oak barrels, and labeled to become the perfect wine you desired it to be. It is a production plant for making wine and is the place where every part of the wine-making process is done. It is also the place where grapes are bottled before distributing to wine resellers.

Vineyard

A vineyard is where grape fruits are planted. In this yard, people grow the grape vines in acres of land and this area of land may be a large estates or just an acre where the main purpose is planting grapevines for wine making. No other plants maybe cultivated in a vineyard except grape-bearing vines, although not only wine may be produced but also grape products such as raisins or table grapes.

Difference between Winery and Vineyard

A winery and vineyard are two components of wine-making. Although these terms are confusing, the difference is obvious. A vineyard is a plantation of grape-bearing vines but a winery is a facility for the processing of grape fruits to become wine. A winery may not always be in the same place as that of the vineyard plus it may process grapes from a different vineyard. Furthermore, when a wine is labeled as vineyard it means that the winery and vineyard is on the same place and processed by the same people whereas if the wine is labeled as from winery then the grapes comes from different vineyard.

Whatever the label of your wine maybe, from a vineyard or winery, the quality of the wine does not really depends on it. It is up to you to decide which wine passes your taste buds.

In brief:

• Winery is a facility where grape fruits are sorted, processed and aged to become wine.

• Vineyard is a field of land, could be a small acre of land or an estate, where people plant grape-bearing vines.

• Both are important components in making delicious wines.
