Zucchini vs Cucumber

Zucchini and cucumber are two vegetables that look mightily similar and hard to distinguish from each other. But in close inspection, they are actually very different. So read on.

Zucchini

Zucchini is defined to be the kind of vegetable that is long, green colored and has many seeds. It is the type of vegetable that is a member of what they call the cucuribita family. A lot of people consider the flowers of the zucchini as a delicacy because they are edible. In reality, zucchini is really defined as a vegetable so when it comes to the preparation of it, it has different temperament.

Cucumber

Cucumber is both classified as a fruit and a vegetable. It is long and is green in color, too. It is part of what they call the gourd family. It has flowers but these are not edible. It is also known to be a vine that traces its roots from the ground and as it grows, it creeps up above. For its fans, cucumbers are used to relive the puffiness of the eyes and have proven its effectiveness.

Difference between Zucchini and Cucumber

Zucchini’s exterior is known to be on the rough side and is mostly dry; cucumber’s exterior is generally bumpy and will leave you that waxy feeling after touching it. Zucchini, when eaten raw, tastes bittersweet; cucumber is loved to be eaten raw because of its inherent juiciness and is soft and cool to the mouth. Zucchini is a member of the cucuribita family; cucumber is part of the gourd family. Zucchini’s flowers are edible; cucumber’s flowers are not. Zucchini is generally considered as a vegetable; cucumber is classified as both a fruit and a vegetable.

Yes, they can fool the eye because of their similar look but as you go deeper, they are very different in so many ways. From their origins to their flowers’ functions to their classifications; their differences abound.
