How Long is Mexico Wall

Mexico wall, the wall or the Mexico-United States barrier is a controversial topic that is discussed by everyone. US president Trump’s announcement about the construction of an “impenetrable, physical, tall, powerful, beautiful, southern border wall” has raised many questions about this proposed wall. At present, no one seems to know how exactly this wall is going to be built and more importantly, who is going to pay for this wall.

What is Mexico Wall?

Mexico wall is the proposed wall between the borders of Mexico and the United States. The main objective of constructing this wall is to prevent illegal immigration and transportation of illegal drugs manufactured in Latin America.

The construction of the Mexico wall has been a rallying cry in the presidential campaign of Donald Trump. On January 25, 2017, the newly elected president Trump took the first step towards enacting this pledge by officially announcing the construction of the Mexican border wall.

There is already a series of fences and walls in some parts of the US – Mexico border, which covers about 650 miles. This was built from 1994 as a campaign to prevent the transportation of illegal drugs to the United States.

Mexico-United States Border

Mexico-United States border is one of the most frequently crossed international border in the world, with about 350 million legal crossing annually (2010 statistics). It runs from California in the east to Texas in the west and crosses a wide range of terrains.

How long is Mexico Wall?

The international border between Mexico and the United States is 3,201 kilometres (1,989 miles) in length and covers a wide variety of terrains. According to the US President Trump, the proposed wall will cover only about 1,000 miles since some parts of the border are already blocked by natural obstacles. However, there has not been an official announcement about the length of the wall or any other technical information about the construction.

Although about 650 miles of the border is already protected by a barrier, most experts believe that even this barrier will be fortified with a wall since Mr Trump claimed that “a wall is better than fencing and it’s much more powerful”. However, further details such as the exact cost of the wall, legal proceedings, environmental impact, human factors, etc. have not been officially confirmed as of yet. Mr.Trump has claimed that this construction will cost around $10-12 billion and that Mexico will pay the cost, but other parties have not yet confirmed these facts.
