Cane Corso and Pit bull are two very interesting dog breeds with different characteristics. Their temperaments differ from each other, but the body sizes would be the best feature to look at from the outside. There is no question about the energy of them, but the average lifespans are different between Cane Corsos and Pit bulls.

Cane Corso

Cane Corso is an Italian large breed of dog kept as a guardian, companion, and hunter. They belong to the dog breed group of Italian Molosser. They have a well-developed body with a physique rich in musculature. Their height at withers is about 62 to 69 centimetres and the standard weight could range from 40 to 50 kilograms. They have a moderately tight skin, but some dogs have dewlaps in the neck area and hanging jaws. One of their distinctive characteristics is the wide and long muzzle, which, in fact, is in the ration of 2:1 length to width.

Cane Corso ears are medium in size and dropped forward, but some owners like to have their ears cropped. Tail docking is common for this breed. They commonly come with black or fawn coloured coats and sometimes with brindle. There are white markings on the chest, toes, and chin area. Their temperament should be handled with care, and should be socialized well as they are little aggressive from their genes. In addition, they are not friendly towards strangers, but very closely attached to their primary owners. They live about 10 to 11 years.

Pit Bull

Pit bull, aka Pit bull terriers and American Pit bull terriers, originated in the United States, but their ancestors came from England and Ireland. They include in the members of the Molosser breed group and they are a result of the cross between terriers and bulldogs. Their coat is short, and the colouration could vary depending on the parents’ colourations. Their musculature is smooth and well developed but never looks bulky. Their eyes are round to almond shaped, and the ears are small.

Pitbulls are medium sized dogs, the weight of an adult Pit bull could vary from 15 to 40 kilograms, and the height ranges from 35 to 60 centimetres. They are generally friendly with their owner family as well as with strangers. They have been trained for hunting purposes as they are very good chasers. However, they may be susceptible for skin allergies, congenital heart defects, and hip dysplsia. The lifespan of a healthy pit bull terrier is about 14 years.

Cane Corso vs Pit Bull

• Cane Corso is considerably larger and heavier than Pit bull.

• Pit bulls are more sociable than Cane Corso. Indeed, Pit bulls are friendly with everyone, whereas Cane Corsos are loyal to the owner but aloof with strangers.

• Pit bulls can live few more years than Cane Corsos.

• Skin looks slightly loose in Cane Corso, whereas Pit bull has a very tight skin.

• Pit bull was developed in the United States while Cane Corso has been originated in Italy.
