Easy vs Simple
Easy and simple are words that we love in our lives as both are opposite to difficult and complex. We love to live a simple and easy life, and it is hard to find a soul who would love to do things the hard or the complex way. However, is easy always simple, or vice versa? It is seen that the words that we love to use interchangeably are not synonyms after all and there are differences that will be highlighted in this article.
Someone said that it is so simple to be happy, but so difficult to be simple. The saying fits like a T to us in present times when all we want is simplicity and ease in our lives. It is the endeavor of all manufacturers to make things or products that make life easier for us. We go into a comfort zone when we know that the task at hand is an easy one that does not require us to sweat for long.
We are comfortable with ideas and things that are known to us, and we start to fret and worry whenever we face something that is complex or difficult. It is the endeavor of all companies to present to us products with a user interface that is both easy and simple. Whereas easy refers to the level of difficulty of something, an object, a person, or a gadget can be simple and yet have a high level of difficulty. We are always searching for easy things in life and divide difficult goals into easy parts that we can attain in a realistic fashion.
As a student, we think of a subject as easy when the concepts are clear to us while the same subject may terrify our friends. The same thing applies to weight loss where in principle; losing weight is very simple as it consists of limiting intake of calories and doing exercises to burn fat. In practice, however, losing weight may not be that easy because of a lot of interfering factors such as lack of exercise, love for junk food, poor dietary intake, and so on.
Easy vs Simple
It seems that all simple things are easy but, in reality, it may not be so. A product may be very complex and made by using the latest and futuristic technology, but its user interface is kept simple to make it easy for the customer to use. This applies on most electronic gadgets that are complex in nature but easy to operate thereby looking simple to us. To someone who does not smoke, it might be puzzling to see that a smoker finds it difficult to give up smoking, whereas it seems to him a simple job. Sometimes, rather simple tasks seem to be very difficult to people until they are shown the way to perform them. If you are not confused by a process, it is simple.
