Facebook mail and Gmail are messaging system via internet. Gmail is an extensive email system with web based and POP based accessing. But Facebook Mail is introduced recently by Facebook for conversational purpose. Facebook Mail is not a substitute of email but it would be a single point for users to exchange messages by email, Facebook message and SMS.

Facebook Mail

Facebook Mail is a messaging system where you can send email to anyone from your Facebook messaging window. The advantage over this is, with single login you can use Facebook messaging system to send messages to email and SMS and when they reply you will get them in the same messaging thread. Basically it’s like a chat or online messaging but anyone can be part of the chat even if they are not Facebook users.

Facebook enables to send emails or Facebook messages with file attachment and photos which is new to Facebook messaging system. At the same time you can click the mobile icon and send messages to mobile via SMS. This is not a substitute of email but excellent system for messaging and chatting.

Gmail

Gmail is a proper email system with amazing features in it. Label is an innovative idea to keep mails in different categories as like old folder system. The major advantage in Gmail is searching of emails which is most important in any system. Gmail could be accessed via web or via POP email client. If you use a POP client you will not feel the excellent features of Gmail. Gmail web based application also has chat facility where users can chat to anyone who has Gmail account or Google Apps emails. Another major feature from Gmail is, it’s embedded Google Voice client with that you can make calls to anywhere.
