Man is a social animal and cannot live alone. Maybe this is best explained by the need to have a family and community to follow its norms and traditions. However, after the family that includes siblings and parents, every individual look for friends to share views and opinions; also to have a time pass. Like minded people get attracted to each other in school and workplaces and become friends. One can have dozens of friends, but best friend, in most instances, is a single person, though in some cases, there can be a small group of 2-3 people regarded as best friends. Though the word itself is self explanatory as one can label a casual acquaintance as a friend like in FaceBook, best friend is someone who is always there in the thick and thin, and ready to help in all circumstances. Let us see what makes a friend best friend and why cannot be all friends best friend of a person.

When a person feel bored or down, all it takes to charge him or make him happy is to bring him in the company of his friends. This is one relationship that is casual and brings in a sense of relaxation in a person when he is with his friends. Friends bring smile to the face of a person in all circumstances as he does not need to pretend to be something other than what he is.

Friend is a generic term that is applied to all those who are perceived as having similar likes and dislikes or share similar views and opinions about things and aspects of life. The term is so large and vague that it can contain hundreds of people making it a very large friend list of a person. Very large friend lists can be seen on  social networking sites like faceBook and Twitter.

Best Friend

This is a special category of friends or rather just one of the friends that happens to be closest to the heart of the person. Best friend is like a family member and even addresses your parents as mom and dad and treats your siblings as his own. He is so close that you share clothes and other accessories with him. He understands your feelings and you really do not have to tell him in words about your feelings. He is there to help you and sort your problems as if they were his own, and first congratulate you on your success. You know in your heart of hearts hat he will never betray you, come what may. He becomes your alter ego and your soul mate.
