Difference Between Frontline and Frontline Plus

Frontline vs Frontline Plus

Frontline and Frontline Plus are two types of medication administered for pets in order to protect them from the attack of flea and tick. They show some difference between them when it comes to their composition and use.

Frontline is often constituted by medication products that are adept in controlling flea and tick in pets. It is to be understood that if flea and tick are allowed to grow in the pets they may be detrimental to the very life of the pet in the long run. Hence the use of these medications is suggested by the veterinary doctor.

Frontline medication abounds in the presence of fipronil a chemical substance that is capable of killing fleas within a span of 12 hours. It is important to know that fipronil is capable of annihilating ticks within a span of 48 hours. It is true that frontline medication offers complete protection to the pet for a minimum period of one month.

On the other hand Frontline Plus is often used as a kind of additional medication for the pets to combat the adult flea and tick. It is a very effective medication. As a matter of fact Frontline Plus puts an end to the growth of insects due to the presence of a chemical substance called S-methoprene.

Frontline Plus is very effective in killing flea eggs and the larvae. The larvae are dangerous in the sense that they spread quickly and dangerously in the pet. Hence Frontline Plus is used to prevent larvae from developing into adults.

Since larvae has the ability to reproduce quickly the pets are often administered Frontline Plus as a kind of measure to keep the larvae at bay and to check the reproductive capacity of the larvae. The two medications should be used sufficiently in the case of pets.
