Hoodies and sweatshirts are two common garments most people wear for casual outings. A sweatshirt is a loose, warm sweater. A hoodie is a sweatshirt or jacket with a hood. The key difference between hoodie and sweatshirt is that hoodies cover the face whereas sweatshirts don’t cover the face.
What is a Hoodie?
A hoody is a sweatshirt or jacket with a hood. Hoodies usually consist of a muff sewn onto the lower front of the shirt, and a string to adjust the opening of the hood. Hoodies are worn by men and women alike. However, it is most popular among teenagers.
Hoodies have been a part of attire for a long time. Its history can be traced back to the garments worn by the priests during the Medieval Europe. In modern fashion, hoodies began to be popular with the rise of the hip pop culture in the seventies.
Hoodies are sometimes worn under coats or jackets as an extra layer of protection. They can be also worn as a protection from rain or sunlight. Hoodies can also remain a person to remain anonymous since they cover the face of a person. Some thieves also use hoodies to cover their face from CCTV cameras. Thus, people wearing hoodies are not allowed to enter some shops and other similar establishments.
What is a Sweatshirt?
A sweatshirt is a type of sweater. It is a loose, warm upper garment that is typically made of cotton. Sweatshirts are leisurewear and are often worn for exercising. They were originally worn by athletes. But today they are worn by non-sports people as well; sweatshirts are worn by both men and women. They should be always worn as casualwear since they are not all dressy. They can be worn at home or for casual outings such as grocery shopping. Some sweatshirts have zips, and/or hoods.
They are made from a fabric and a cut that is similar to sweatpants. A sweatshirt worn with a sweatpant is called a sweatsuit.
