No this is not a usual Android v/s Android match or a battle between Android and Apple device. Nokia has managed to come up with a brand new OS called Meego to take on the might of the best in the business. The Finnish giant has recently unveiled its latest smartphone Nokia N9 that is a unique blend of comfort, speed and technology. It has state of the art technology and features that make it tempting for us to compare it with Samsung Galaxy S II, the unofficial boss of the ring. Let us find out who stands taller in this battle of two of the smartest smartphones on our planet.

Nokia N9

There were some eyebrows raised when Nokia announced using Microsoft’s Windows based OS for its future smartphones as there were doubts if Nokia and Microsoft would be able to withstand the onslaught of Apple and Android OS. However, Nokia has managed to come up with a totally new OS in the interim, called Meego v1.2 Harmattan, and has combined it with a powerful 1 GHz A8 Cortex processor to provide a smartphone that has endless entertainment and seamless browsing. Nokia has introduced swipe technology in N9 replacing the home/back button: from any app swiping any of the edges will take you to the home screen.

N9 is an all screen solid unibody design with edge to edge display. It measures 116.5×61.2×7.6 – 12.1mm so it does not pretend to be the slimmest and it weighs 135g so it does not claim to be the lightest either. It does not believe in monster screen also as it has got a decent 3.9 inch AMOLED capacitive touch screen that produces a resolution of 480×853 pixels. It has multi touch input method, scratch resistant gorilla glass display, accelerometer, anti glare glass, swipe technology and a proximity sensor to save on power.

N9 has 1 GB of RAM and is available in two versions with internal storage of 16 GB and 64 GB. It is NFC, Wi-Fi802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP+EDR, EDGE and GPRS (class 3.3), and GPS with A-GPS. It provides great HSDPA and HSUPA speeds of 14.4 Mbps and 5.7 Mbps respectively.

N9 has a 8 MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics sensor and wide angle lens at the rear side that shoots pictures in 3264×2448 pixels. It is continuous auto focus with dual LED flash. It has features of geo tagging, face detection and touch focus. It can record HD videos in 720p at 30fps. Nokia boasts N9 as the world’s first phone with Dolby Digital Plus decoding and Dolby Headphone post-processing technology. With this head phone technology you can enjoy the surround sound experience with any type of of headphone. N9 is equipped with standard Li-ion battery (1450 mAh) that provides a talk time of up to 7 hours in 3G and up to 11 hours in 2G.

Not for nothing is Samsung acknowledged as a top contender in smartphones. With one masterstroke called Samsung Galaxy S II, the company has forged ahead of others and laid claim to being the best in the business. One can’t resist holding this phone as it has a monster 4.3 inch touch screen that produces exceptional images.
